i have to say i didnt like my gaitors and think they made my feet immensely hot.
2 of my tent had smaller gaitors on which were velcro'd. they seemed to work immensely well, so i am gonna mail em both when they get back (they both finished) and get some details as i am certainly interested in giving them a bash.
i saw others in them smaller raidlight things...anyone have any knowledge of them and if they are any good?
i was just looking earlier at them little raidlight gaiters. do they actually work as in keep the sand out? just wondering as they look far more appealing than big parachute thingies thats all....
I too, think there was an awfull lot of mis information about gaitors. I used the home made ones that most Brits used but would not again. I do not think that gaitors have a lot to do with blister prevention. This is more to time on your feet. I saw people that got little if any sand in with horrendous blisters and the chap in out tent with nothing but a pair of running shoes got none!
The small raidlight gaitors are excellent if you can do a good gluing job on the velcro.
Fantastic! No sand in my tootsies, meant that I could protect my feet with vaseline every morning. I think home made is the way ahead, no factory versionseemed up to the mark.
Used ripstop and had no problems at all. They didn't give at all and I never found a grain of sand in my shoes. Never suffered any foot swelling and only blister of significance was when a rock fell on my toe on the day 2 climb!
I saw alot of those dinky raidlight gaitors ripped and hanging offalthough they did look neat when new! Nigel Brannigan had a great gaitor system that was a homemade version of the raidlight one.
